Paul Kjelland is the Engagement Director for 371 Productions. He works on many projects including Precious Lives– a 100-part radio series and engagement campaign exploring young people and gun violence in Milwaukee. Paul’s foundation has been working at the intersection of art, media, and action. As a member of the Justseeds Artists’ Cooperative, an international decentralized network of visual artists, he has produced work with and for social and environmental justice movements. He is a co-founder of the Riverwest24, an annual 24 hour bicycle race and community project in Milwaukee that was started in 2008 and attracts thousands of participants and spectators from around the country. Paul is also a co-founder of a ReciproCity, a public art and urban agriculture collaboration whose most recent projects include the development of the Martin Luther King, Jr. Peace Place in the Harambee neighborhood. Paul co-founded Climate Prints, a web based platform to disseminate visual art in the global climate justice movement. The site was used heavily during protests around the COP21 international climate summit in Paris. He was a 2013 Mary L. Nohl Fund Fellow and his visual artwork can be found in various collections and public places, including on permanent display at the Villard Square Library in North Milwaukee.
